On behalf of the 2008/2009 District Governor Peter Shipp and Judy, I extend an invitation to join us in Mount Gambier from the 17th to 19th October for this year’s District Conference.

We hope that you will find the energy of the Limestone Coast an ideal setting for this Conference, and that by challenging our dreams we can “Make Dreams Real" for many of those  in the world who need our help.

To those who have not attended conferences before, and the “regular attendees” to conferences, we hope you take time to join us in this most beautiful part of our State.

Mt Gambier was proclaimed a City in 1954; is the regional centre of the Limestone Coast in the South East of South Australia, and is one of the most progressive communities in our State.  Mt Gambier is a thriving City set in a unique and ancient landscape of volcanic craters, lakes, limestone and mysterious underground waterways.  Enjoy nature and the cultural beauty of the surrounding region, the caves and sinkholes, coastline, rivers, lakes and wineries.

It is the ideal venue for any special event, including a District Conference.  We are working with the people of Mt Gambier to make your stay a memorable one and are setting a program to fulfil your expectations of this great region.

You will have an opportunity to participate in wine tasting of local wines in the House of Friendship, tours, play golf or bowls, take a visit to local wineries, or just relax and enjoy the company of your fellow Rotarians from our district.

There have been many changes to the South East since our last conference in 2002, and we invite you to join us to share this great occasion in the year of Captain Peter F Shipp and First Lady Judy as they set sail on their adventure in the world of Rotary with all hands on deck.

Hope to see you all in October.

Yours in Rotary,

PDG Arthur Manser

Conference 2008 Chairman
